An important part of the EP Resources portfolio comprises energy by-products, such as energy gypsum, cinder/granulates and ashes, which are certified as construction products and meet all technical, environmental and health criteria according to applicable legislation. However, we are not only engaged in the trade of these products, but also with new approaches in their utilisation. This particularly concerns fly ash and ash stabiliser, which are gaining greater application in the construction and earth works sector.
Thanks to the so-called free lime properties of the above-mentioned ash, they are increasingly sought after by construction companies as an alternative to other lime and cement products. The ash is not only competitive in price, but also in quality.
The typical application of this product is its mixing with earth for use in over-land communication embankments or civil engineering. It can, among others, further be used as a reinforcing foundation for the construction of industrial halls or entire industrial parks. Our Company participated in the construction of such an industrial park in the Karlovy Vary region by supplying ash.
The application of our fly ash encourages the modification of the properties of the local construction materials. This can reduce the demands on logistics, the removal of unsuitable earth and delivery of suitable filling earth. Customers see the positive impact of the combination of ash with local materials for the reduction of carbon footprint and transport in the vicinity of the construction. The lower frequency of traffic is appreciated by the local residents, who positively perceive both the elimination of safety risks and the lower noise levels.
The product can also be applied in constructions dealing with a lack of back-fill material. The solution is a layered back-fill in combination with fly ash or an ash stabiliser as an adequate embankment fill. In most cases the ash prevents the necessity to open earth pits or draw from the existing natural resources.
